Here is some information regarding Private Lessons in our community GTA is a non-profit 501c organization that is granted permission through a partnership agreement with Scott County Parks and Recreation to use the courts at Brooking Park Courts. This is all in a common effort to offer youth community tennis programs in the Scott County area. GTA holds liability and property insurance so players in our programs are covered through this insurance. Georgetown College and GTA are in partnership — without this partnership GTA would not have access as Georgetown College has priority use of their courts. Both facilities also include us under their insurance while on their courts.
Brooking Park Courts:
Individuals not under GTA or Scott County Parks and Recreation are not covered by any insurance while your child is on the court with them nor do they have permission to use the court. Solicitation or profit gain on these courts by individuals is prohibited by the Scott County Parks and Recreation. These individuals can be asked to leave the facility if “caught”. We encourage individuals giving private lessons on Brooking Park Courts to work with the support of the Georgetown Tennis Association. These instructors must work in GTA programs.
GTA fully supports players getting further individualized instruction as it can be an instrumental part of a player’s development; however, GTA must uphold our contract with Scott County Parks and Recreation and follow their polices.
The facilities owned by Georgetown College also require permission of their courts by the Georgetown College Tennis Coaches and administrators. These are private courts that welcome the community; however, Georgetown College has full priority of the courts. This goes for individuals giving private lessons. You must obtain permission from Georgetown College. Georgetown College Tennis players and Georgetown College staff do have the right to use these courts first stated under their guidelines with permission from the college tennis program.
GTA is currently working hard to make it possible for these outstanding instructors to use the courts for individualized instruction for players in the community. We will be updating our site with those individuals that are in partnership with G’town College and GTA to give individual lessons.
